Semaglutide Shots For Weight Loss: The Skinny Shot

What is it?

  • Semaglutide is a game-changing weight less injection that affects the regulation of blood sugar by stimulating glucose-dependent insulin secretion.
  • Due to the increasing amount of insulin produced by the pancreas and decreasing amount of glucagon produced by the liver, you will be able to burn more fat, feel fuller longer, as well as reduce the desire for food intake.

How does it work?

  • Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) is a hormone produced in the small intestine that stimulates insulin secretion and inhibits glucagon secretion, thereby lowering blood sugar.

What are the side effects?

  • The most common reported side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation and stomach pain.

How quickly will I see results?

  • Weight loss will be gradual since you will slowly work your way up to the target dose of semaglutide.
  • You can expect to see a 2% reduction in body weight in as little as 4 weeks.
  • Full effects can take 8 weeks or longer, as this is a long-acting medication that is injected only once per week.
  • It is important to note that weight loss can take time, and you’ll see the best results when you are using your medication in combination with a healthy diet and exercise.

How does the dosing work?

  • There isn’t one does that fits all! Our approach to semaglutide is very personalized. We help you find the precision dose that gives you the maximum weight loss with the minimum side effects.
  • Our well educated Physician Assistant and Nursing staff are highly trained in partnering with you to maximize your results in the safest, most effective way using our comprehensive functional medicine approach.
  • Our staff is able to prescribe custom dosing schedules based on each patient’s unique needs.

How do I lose weight from Semaglutide?

  • Semaglutide mimics the Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) hormone in your body, which helps to control your blood sugar by blocking the liver from releasing sugar into your bloodstream. This slows down how fast your stomach empties food and causes your pancreas to release insulin. From this, you will feel less hungry, causing you to eat less food and lose more weight!

Who is not a candidate for Semaglutide?

  • Semaglutide is not recommended for those with a history of thyroid cancer, type-1 diabetes, history of pancreatitis, people who are pregnant, or in on other blood sugar lowering medications.

Do I have to stay on semaglutide to keep the weight off?

  • Technically, no. Only if you adopt to the healthy lifestyle changes that the program is designed to do.

  • Being on semaglutide will help you learn how to control your portion sizes. However, if you go back to how you were eating once off semaglutide, it is likely that you will gain the weight back.

Is Semaglutide covered by my insurance?

  • Some may be able to get Semaglutide covered by insurance under branded names. However, when it is not branded, Semaglutide can cost up to $1,500 a month.

  • Here a Contoured Med Spa, we are able to bypass the hassle of insurance and offer a full-service medical weight-loss program with better pricing on the medication through our compounding pharmacy partnerships.

What should I avoid once I’m on Semaglutide?

  • It is recommended to limit sugar, fast-digesting carbs, and processed foods.

  • Fast food, process food, carbonated and sugar drinks, and foods high in sugar and saturated fat are likely to make you nauseous while on semaglutide.

  • Limit how much alcohol you are drinking, since it can have an effect on your blood sugar. There is a risk that it may drop too low in combination with semaglutide, especially if you are drinking on an empty stomach.
