Botox that doesn’t look like work.

If you’ve ever felt this

You’ve seen Botox done badly.

Most women who walk into Contoured have a story about another medspa. We hear the same patterns over and over.

  • A frozen forehead that gave you away in every photo.
  • A “lifted” brow that’s now an eyebrow that doesn’t move.
  • Asymmetric results because someone rushed your dosing.
  • A different injector every time — none of them tracking how you’ve changed.
  • Pressure to prepay for six months of Botox before you’d even been numbed.

That’s not how we work.

What we use, and why

Allergan Botox Cosmetic. Conservative units. Dr. Lam reviewing every plan.

We use original Botox Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) by Allergan — the most-studied neuromodulator on the market, with the most predictable diffusion profile and the longest body of clinical evidence. We don’t switch to whichever rep walked in last week.

Most of our Botox patients use somewhere between 20 and 40 units per visit. We dose carefully, we mark precisely, and we’d rather you come back in three weeks for a touch-up than overshoot the first time. Every dosing plan is reviewed by our Medical Director, Dr. Benjamin Lam, DO, a board-certified plastic surgeon and clinical associate professor at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

What it actually is

Botox is a muscle-relaxer, not a face-changer.

Botox (the brand name for onabotulinumtoxinA) is a purified protein that temporarily blocks the signal between nerve and muscle. Inject a tiny dose into a specific muscle — say, the corrugator between your brows — and that muscle relaxes for about three to four months.

Done well, Botox softens the lines that form when you express. Done badly, it freezes your whole face into an expression that isn’t yours. The difference is the injector’s eye and their hand — not the product.

“We’re not erasing your face. We’re letting your face rest a little.”

That’s why we start most new patients lower than industry-standard, photograph your results at two weeks, and dial up only if you ask us to. You can always add more. You can’t take it back.

How we work

The Contoured Method — for Botox.

Every Botox patient moves through these four steps. The same way. The same hands.

  1. 01

    Listen

Free 30-minute consult. We look at your face, talk about what bothers you, and tell you what we’d do — and what we wouldn’t. No pressure to book that day.

  2. 02

    Plan

A written long-term plan with units, areas, and timing. Package pricing available if it suits. You decide when to come back.

  3. 03

    Treat

Conservative dosing. Precise mapping. Same injector each visit. Every plan reviewed by Dr. Lam.

  4. 04

    Track

Photos at two weeks. Notes that travel with you. Year-over-year continuity is the real result.

What to expect

Before · During · After.

Before

The day of

Skip aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and alcohol for 24 hours — they thin the blood and increase bruising risk. Arrive with a clean face. Bring a list of any medications you’re on.

During

About 30 minutes

We mark your face, photograph the baseline, and inject with very fine needles. Most patients say it feels like tiny pinches. No numbing required for most areas. You walk out the same door you walked in.

After 7–14 days

Results settle in

You’ll start to notice lines softening at day 3. Full result by day 10–14. We see you back at the 2-week mark to photograph and refine if needed. No downtime — you can work out, fly, and wear makeup the same day.

Who’s holding the needle

The same hands
every visit.

Continuity is the work. We don’t hand you off, and the practice Amy built runs on one idea: the same hands, every visit.

Common questions

The things people ask before booking.

How long does Botox last?
For most patients, results last three to four months. With consistent treatment over a year or two, many regulars find the interval can stretch a little longer because the treated muscle has spent more time at rest.
Will I look frozen?
Not the way we dose. Conservative starts, photo follow-ups at two weeks, and the willingness to add more later. We’d rather under-treat than overshoot. The goal is — you look like you, just rested.
Is it safe?
Botox has been FDA-approved for cosmetic use since 2002 and has decades of clinical safety data. We use the original Allergan product, dose conservatively, and every plan is reviewed by our medical director, Dr. Benjamin Lam, DO, a board-certified plastic surgeon.
How much will it hurt?
Most patients describe it as a series of tiny pinches. The needles are very fine (32 gauge), and the injections take five to ten seconds each. We don’t routinely numb — but we will if you want us to.
What if I don’t like it?
Botox is not permanent. If you don’t love the result, we wait it out — it metabolizes naturally over three to four months. At your two-week follow-up we can also add a tiny touch-up to balance asymmetry. Refunds aren’t a part of the contract because the result is reversible by nature.
Can I do this on my lunch break?
Yes. Most appointments take about 30 minutes and there’s no downtime. You can return to work, exercise, and wear makeup the same day. The two restrictions we ask for: no lying down for four hours, and no heavy massage to the treated areas for 24 hours.
Do I need to be a certain age?
No. Many of our patients start preventatively in their early thirties — before the lines etch in. Others come in their fifties and sixties looking to soften what’s already there. The right age is when you’re bothered by what you see and want to do something about it — thoughtfully.
What’s the difference between Botox, Dysport, and Daxxify?
They’re all neuromodulators — same general mechanism. Botox has the longest safety record and the most predictable diffusion. Dysport spreads slightly more, which can be useful in larger muscles. Daxxify lasts longer but is newer with less long-term data. We use Botox as our default. Ask us about the others at your consult.
