We use Juvéderm XC and Restylane (FDA-approved hyaluronic-acid fillers). We chose this specific device/protocol because of clinical evidence, predictability, and our injectors’ deep experience with it. Every plan is reviewed by our Medical Director, Dr. Benjamin Lam, DO — board-certified plastic surgeon and clinical associate professor at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
What it actually is
Dermal Fillers — in plain language.
Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule your body already makes — it holds water in your skin and joints. As we age, we make less of it, which is why faces look hollower over time.
Dermal fillers are HA in gel form, injected with very fine needles or blunt cannulas into specific areas. The product attracts water, restoring volume gently and naturally.
We use Juvéderm XC and Restylane — both FDA-approved, both reversible (we can dissolve them if needed), both made by the same companies that supply academic medical centers.
Done well, filler looks like your face when you were 35 — not a different face. Done badly, it stacks unnaturally and migrates. The injector’s eye is everything.

Common questions
The things people ask before booking.
How long does filler last?
Depends on the product and area. Juvéderm Voluma in the cheeks lasts up to 24 months. Juvéderm Ultra Plus in the lips lasts about 12 months. Restylane Lyft in the jawline, 12–18 months. Your metabolism and how active the area is both factor in.
Does filler hurt?
Most filler products contain lidocaine, so they numb as they go in. We can also pre-numb with topical lidocaine cream for sensitive areas like the lips. Most patients describe it as pressure, not pain.
What if I don’t like the result?
Hyaluronic acid filler is reversible. We use a product called hyaluronidase that dissolves it within 24–48 hours. You don’t have to live with a result you don’t love.
Will I look “done”?
Not the way we dose. We layer slowly, photograph at every visit, and we will tell you no when we think a treatment is wrong for your face. Conservative dosing means you can always add more.
What’s the difference between Juvéderm and Restylane?
They’re both hyaluronic-acid fillers but they behave a little differently. Juvéderm is smoother and holds shape well for cheek and lip volume. Restylane is firmer and holds structure well for the jawline and tear troughs. We pick based on the area.
Can I combine filler with Botox?
Yes — and most of our patients do. Filler restores volume; Botox softens lines from muscle movement. They work in different layers of the face. We can do both in one visit.
Is filler safe?
HA filler has decades of safety data and is dissolvable if anything goes wrong. The risks worth knowing about — vascular occlusion (a clot in a blood vessel) — are rare and most often caused by inadequately-trained injectors. Every plan at Contoured is reviewed by Dr. Lam.
