Chemical Peels in West Chester, PA — from no-downtime to deep resurfacing.

Targeted exfoliation to brighten skin, treat melasma, soften acne scars, or even tone — chosen by depth and acid blend, not by brand name. Some go deep enough to need a quiet week after. Others — the Sensi Peel among them — leave you with no downtime at all.

West Chester patients reach us in under 20 minutes via US-322 — Contoured is the closest medspa with this depth of physician oversight to the West Chester borough, East Goshen, and the Westtown corridor.

If you’ve seen this before

You’ve seen Chemical Peels done badly.

Most patients who come to Contoured for chemical peels have tried at least one other provider. The recurring patterns:

  • A “chemical peel” at a chain medspa that was glycolic toner and a surprise bill.
  • A deeper peel elsewhere that left your skin red for three weeks.
  • Melasma that got darker because you used the wrong product in summer.
  • A series of peels with no consultation and no follow-up.

That’s not how we work.

What we use, and why

Medical-grade glycolic, salicylic, lactic and TCA blends from PCA Skin, including the no-downtime Sensi Peel. Conservative dosing. Dr. Lam reviewing every plan.

We use Medical-grade glycolic, salicylic, lactic and TCA blends from PCA Skin, including the no-downtime Sensi Peel. We chose these specific protocols because of clinical evidence, predictability, and our aestheticians’ deep experience with it. Every plan is reviewed by our Medical Director, Dr. Benjamin Lam, DO — board-certified plastic surgeon and clinical associate professor at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

What it actually is

Chemical Peels — in plain language.

Chemical peels are controlled exfoliation. We apply a specific acid blend — glycolic, salicylic, lactic, TCA, or a combination — at a precise concentration and pH for a set time, then neutralize.

The acid removes the outermost damaged skin layers and triggers your body to build fresh new skin underneath. The result depends entirely on the acid choice and the depth.

Light peels — the PCA Sensi Peel is our go-to — brighten and even tone with zero social downtime, which makes them easy to book before an event or a trip. Medium-depth peels (TCA blends, Jessner’s) treat melasma and post-acne scarring with 3–5 days of peeling. Deeper peels target sun damage and fine lines but require 5–7 days of social downtime.

What we won’t do is an overly aggressive blend that leaves you raw for two weeks. We’d rather do a series of medium peels than one too-deep peel that backfires.

“The right acid, at the right depth, for the right skin.”

Conservative dosing. Precise technique. Same provider each visit. Every plan reviewed by Dr. Lam.

  4. 04

Common questions

The things people ask before booking.

How do I know which peel I need?
We assess at consult: your Fitzpatrick skin type, what you’re treating, your downtime tolerance, and how your skin has responded to previous treatments. The peel is chosen for you, not picked from a menu.
How long is the recovery?
Sensi Peel and other light peels: zero downtime, slight pink-ness for an hour. Medium: 3–5 days of light flaking. Deep: 5–7 days of social downtime with visible peeling.
Is there a peel with no downtime?
Yes — the Sensi Peel. It’s a gentle medical-grade peel that brightens and smooths without visible flaking, so patients book it before a trip or an event. Ask for it by name if a quiet week isn’t an option.
How many peels will I need?
For maintenance brightening: monthly. For melasma or acne scarring: typically a series of 4–6 peels spaced 3–4 weeks apart, then quarterly maintenance.
Will my skin be more sensitive to sun?
Yes — significantly for 2–4 weeks. SPF 30+ daily is non-negotiable. Sun exposure after a peel can cause hyperpigmentation that lasts months.
Can I combine peels with retinol at home?
Stop retinol 1 week before and resume 1 week after a peel. Using both at once is too much exfoliation and causes barrier damage.
