Sclerotherapy in Kennett Square, PA — for spider veins on legs.

A targeted injection treatment that collapses spider veins on the legs so your body resorbs them. Fast, in-clinic, minimal downtime.

Kennett Square is the closest of our service neighborhoods — most patients reach Contoured in 15 minutes via Route 1. The boutique-medical-grade combination we offer doesn’t exist within the borough itself, so Kennett patients have always come up to us.

If you’ve seen this before

You’ve seen Sclerotherapy done badly.

Most patients who come to Contoured for sclerotherapy have tried at least one other provider. The recurring patterns:

  • You haven’t worn shorts in five years because of spider veins on your thighs.
  • You’ve tried “leg vein creams” off the internet and seen zero result.
  • A laser treatment that didn’t work and left you with brown marks.
  • Being told to “just live with them” by a primary-care doctor.

That’s not how we work.

What we use, and why

FDA-approved sclerosing solution (Asclera / polidocanol). Conservative dosing. Dr. Lam reviewing every plan.

We use FDA-approved sclerosing solution (Asclera / polidocanol). We chose this specific device/protocol because of clinical evidence, predictability, and our injectors’ deep experience with it. Every plan is reviewed by our Medical Director, Dr. Benjamin Lam, DO — board-certified plastic surgeon and clinical associate professor at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

What it actually is

Sclerotherapy — in plain language.

Spider veins are tiny dilated blood vessels under the skin. They’re harmless medically, but cosmetically — they limit what you wear.

Sclerotherapy uses a very fine needle to inject a solution called polidocanol directly into each spider vein. The solution irritates the vein wall, the vein collapses, and your body breaks it down and resorbs it over weeks.

It’s been the gold standard for spider veins for over 80 years. The newer foam version (Asclera) is what we use — better coverage, less product, fewer needle sticks.

Most legs need 2–4 sessions to clear visibly, depending on how dense the spider veins are. Compression stockings during recovery are non-negotiable — they’re what makes the result stick.

“The treatment that lets you wear shorts again.”

Common questions

The things people ask before booking.

Does sclerotherapy hurt?
Most patients say it’s a brief pinch and a mild burning sensation that lasts a few seconds, then nothing. We use very fine needles (32 gauge) and inject slowly.
How long until I see results?
Treated veins start fading at week 2 and continue improving for 4–6 weeks. We see you back at the 6-week mark to assess and treat any remaining veins.
Why do I have to wear compression stockings?
Compression keeps the collapsed vein walls pressed together so they seal properly. Skip the stockings and the result is significantly weaker — sometimes the vein refills.
Are there side effects?
Most common: temporary bruising and small brown marks (hyperpigmentation) that fade over 3–6 months. Rarely, a small ulcer can form at an injection site. We dose carefully to minimize all of these.
Will the veins come back?
The veins we treat are gone for good — your body resorbs them. But new spider veins can form in adjacent areas over years, especially with hormones, gravity, and genetics. Most patients come back every 2–4 years for maintenance.
Can I exercise after?
Walking is encouraged — it improves blood return. Avoid high-impact exercise (running, heavy lifting) for 48 hours, and stay out of hot tubs and saunas for 2 weeks.
