PDO & Silhouette Threads in Wilmington, DE — subtle lift without surgery.

Dissolvable threads placed under the skin to subtly lift jawline, cheeks, or brows. A bridge between filler and a facelift — done by an injector trained in advanced technique.

Wilmington patients make up a significant slice of our regulars — most drive up Route 202 through Greenville and Hockessin to reach our Chadds Ford location in about 20 minutes. We’re the closest boutique medspa with on-site physician oversight to the Delaware Greenville corridor.

If you’ve seen this before

You’ve seen PDO & Silhouette Threads done badly.

Most patients who come to Contoured for pdo & silhouette threads have tried at least one other provider. The recurring patterns:

  • A “thread lift” elsewhere that left you with visible bumps along your hairline.
  • Cheeks that looked flat after filler, when what you actually needed was lift.
  • Pressure to “just do filler” when your jawline really needed support, not volume.
  • Considering a facelift but knowing you’re not quite there yet.

That’s not how we work.

What we use, and why

PDO (polydioxanone) and Silhouette InstaLift threads. Conservative dosing. Dr. Lam reviewing every plan.

We use PDO (polydioxanone) and Silhouette InstaLift threads. We chose this specific device/protocol because of clinical evidence, predictability, and our injectors’ deep experience with it. Every plan is reviewed by our Medical Director, Dr. Benjamin Lam, DO — board-certified plastic surgeon and clinical associate professor at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

What it actually is

PDO & Silhouette Threads — in plain language.

Threads are dissolvable surgical sutures — the same material used in cardiac surgery — placed under the skin with very thin cannulas. Tiny barbs on the threads grip the underlying tissue and lift it gently upward.

Over the following months, the threads dissolve and your body builds new collagen along the path they took. So you get an immediate lift AND a long-term tightening effect.

We use PDO (polydioxanone) threads for finer areas like the jawline and brow, and Silhouette InstaLift for stronger lift in the cheeks. Both are FDA-cleared. Both fully dissolve over 6–12 months.

This isn’t a facelift. It’s a step between filler and surgery — and for the right candidate, it bridges the gap beautifully. We will absolutely tell you no if your face needs a different approach.

“Threads are the bridge between filler and surgery — done well, you can’t see them.”

Common questions

The things people ask before booking.

How long do thread lifts last?
The lift itself lasts 12–18 months. The collagen-stimulating effect — the long-term skin firmness — lasts 2+ years. Most patients refresh every 12–18 months.
Does the procedure hurt?
We numb thoroughly with both topical and local lidocaine before placing threads. Most patients describe pressure and tugging, not pain. You’ll feel sore for 24–48 hours after, similar to a workout.
What’s the downtime?
Expect 5–10 days of swelling and possible bruising. You’re back at work within 48 hours but you’ll want to avoid major events for the first week.
Can threads be combined with Botox or filler?
Yes — and they often work best in combination. We typically space treatments 2–4 weeks apart so we can evaluate each result separately.
Will I see the threads under my skin?
No. They’re placed deep enough that they’re invisible — and the barbs that hold the lift are microscopic. If you can see a thread, it was placed badly.
Are they safe?
PDO has been used in cardiothoracic surgery for 30+ years. The risks specific to aesthetic threads — infection, asymmetry, thread extrusion — are uncommon and almost always related to placement technique. Dr. Lam reviews every thread plan.
From Wilmington

Patients from Wilmington at Contoured.

Most Wilmington patients tried at least one other provider — either downtown Wilmington or the Trolley Square area — before finding Contoured. The recurring story we hear: they wanted same-injector continuity, conservative dosing, and a real physician supervising their care, and they weren’t finding all three in one place. We do all three by design.
