If you’ve seen this before

You’ve seen Laser Genesis done badly.

Most patients who come to Contoured for laser genesis have tried at least one other provider. The recurring patterns:

  • Diffuse facial redness that no skincare touches.
  • A “laser facial” elsewhere that was painful and gave you days of redness.
  • Rosacea flushing that turns half-glass-of-wine into a face full of red.
  • Being told no laser is safe on your skin tone (most aren’t — this one is).

That’s not how we work.

What we use, and why

Cutera Laser Genesis (1064 nm Nd:YAG, FDA-cleared). Conservative dosing. Dr. Lam reviewing every plan.

We use Cutera Laser Genesis (1064 nm Nd:YAG, FDA-cleared). We chose this specific device/protocol because of clinical evidence, predictability, and our clinical team’s deep experience with it. Every plan is reviewed by our Medical Director, Dr. Benjamin Lam, DO — board-certified plastic surgeon and clinical associate professor at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

What it actually is

Laser Genesis — in plain language.

Laser Genesis is a 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser delivered as gentle, repeated pulses across the skin surface. The wavelength penetrates deep enough to heat the upper dermis without disrupting the surface.

That gentle heating accomplishes two things: it shrinks the diffuse small blood vessels that cause facial redness, and it stimulates new collagen formation for smoother texture over time.

It’s the only laser we offer that has zero downtime. You can come in on a lunch break and go back to a meeting. Many of our long-term patients do exactly that on a monthly cadence.

It’s also the safest laser we offer for Fitzpatrick types IV–VI (darker skin). The wavelength doesn’t absorb into melanin, so the risk of pigmentation change is minimal.

“The lunch-break laser you can actually do on a lunch break.”

How we work

    Plan

A written long-term plan, with package pricing available if it suits. You decide when to come back.

  3. 03

    Treat

Conservative dosing. Precise technique. Same provider each visit. Every plan reviewed by Dr. Lam.

  4. 04

What you’ll pay

We bill per visit. Packages available.

Per-session billing. Most patients do a series of 4–6 spaced 3–4 weeks apart, then quarterly maintenance.

Common questions

The things people ask before booking.

Does Laser Genesis hurt?
It feels warm — like a series of small heat puffs across the skin. No numbing required. Most patients describe it as comfortable.
How many sessions will I need?
Most patients see results starting at session 3. A typical series is 4–6 sessions spaced 3–4 weeks apart. Quarterly maintenance keeps the result.
Is it safe on darker skin?
Yes. The 1064 nm wavelength is the safest laser wavelength for Fitzpatrick types IV–VI. The energy doesn’t absorb into normal pigment, so the pigment-change risk is minimal.
Can I do this in summer?
Yes — unlike IPL, Genesis doesn’t require strict sun avoidance. Daily SPF is still required (you should wear it anyway), but you can be active outdoors.
What’s the difference between Genesis and IPL?
IPL uses broadband light to target specific pigmented or vascular targets — works fast on brown spots and broken capillaries but skin-type-limited. Genesis is gentler, works on all skin types, and is better for diffuse redness and texture but takes more sessions.
Will it help my rosacea?
Yes — for the flushing and broken-capillary components specifically. It won’t cure rosacea (no treatment does), but it significantly reduces the visible redness for most patients.
From Wilmington

Patients from Wilmington at Contoured.

Most Wilmington patients tried at least one other provider — either downtown Wilmington or the Trolley Square area — before finding Contoured. The recurring story we hear: they wanted same-injector continuity, conservative dosing, and a real physician supervising their care, and they weren’t finding all three in one place. We do all three by design.

Getting here: 20-minute drive via I-95 N to US-202 N (about 14 miles). Free parking at Old Ridge Village.
