If you’ve seen this before

You’ve seen The Skinny Shot done badly.

Most patients who come to Contoured for the skinny shot have tried at least one other provider. The recurring patterns:

  • Years of diets that worked for a while and then stopped.
  • A weight-loss program that handed you a meal plan and called it done.
  • An online “semaglutide clinic” that prescribed without ever seeing your labs.
  • Plateau weight you can’t move regardless of effort.

That’s not how we work.

What we use, and why

Compounded semaglutide (GLP-1 receptor agonist). Conservative dosing. Dr. Lam reviewing every plan.

We use Compounded semaglutide (GLP-1 receptor agonist). We chose this specific device/protocol because of clinical evidence, predictability, and our clinical team’s deep experience with it. Every plan is reviewed by our Medical Director, Dr. Benjamin Lam, DO — board-certified plastic surgeon and clinical associate professor at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

What it actually is

The Skinny Shot — in plain language.

Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist — a class of medications that mimic a hormone your gut already makes after eating. The result: significantly reduced appetite, slower gastric emptying, and improved blood-sugar regulation.

It’s the same active ingredient as Ozempic (originally FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes) and Wegovy (FDA-approved for weight loss). We use compounded semaglutide, prescribed and supervised by Dr. Lam.

Most patients lose 5–15% of their body weight over 6 months. The medication works best when paired with sustainable nutrition habits — which is why our protocol includes habit coaching, not just the injection.

This is not a quick fix. It’s a medical weight-loss treatment that requires monthly check-ins, lab work, and physician oversight. Patients who treat it as such get the best results.

“Medical weight loss that works. Supervised. Sustained.”

Common questions

The things people ask before booking.

Is this the same as Ozempic?
The active ingredient (semaglutide) is the same. The supply, dose, and protocol differ. Ozempic is FDA-approved for diabetes; Wegovy is FDA-approved for weight loss. We use compounded semaglutide that mirrors the dosing of Wegovy — supervised by Dr. Lam.
What are the side effects?
The most common: nausea, especially in the first 2–4 weeks as your body adjusts. We dose slowly to minimize this. Less common: vomiting, diarrhea, constipation. Rare but serious: pancreatitis, gallbladder issues.
Will I keep the weight off after I stop?
Maybe — depends on whether sustainable habits are in place. Patients who use the medication as a “reset” to build new eating patterns tend to maintain. Patients who stop without changing habits often regain. We coach for the former.
Do I need to see Dr. Lam every month?
Yes — for the first 6 months, you’ll have a 20-minute follow-up monthly with the medical team (initial visit with Dr. Lam, then NP follow-ups with Dr. Lam reviewing). After 6 months, every 3 months.
Is it safe long-term?
Long-term safety data for semaglutide is good — the molecule has been studied for over 15 years. We’re honest about what we don’t know yet: very long-term use (10+ years) is still being studied.
How much does it cost?
Plan-dependent. We give you a written total at your consult — including labs, medication, follow-ups — so you know exactly what you’re committing to.
Will I need to do this forever?
Most patients use semaglutide for 6–12 months while building new habits, then taper off. Some maintain on a low maintenance dose long-term. We tailor the plan to your specific body and goals.
